Is There Oil in Your Life?

This morning I had an epiphany! I have been feeling tired and just weak the last week or so.  While I had some headaches and some other problems, I just couldn't pinpoint this 'blah' feeling or why I had it.  I thought it might be not getting enough rest but really I was about on par with the norm for me.  I looked at the foods I was eating, not as healthy as they should be, could that be the cause?

It really had me pondering, what is the matter?  What could it be?  Let's face it, I'm getting older, could it be some problem I've never had before?  This morning I woke up with an upset stomach.  As I was getting ready I thought 'I'll fix me a veggie cap with some ginger oil to see if that settles my stomach'.  As I opened that cabinet, it hit me like a slap in the face!  When was the last time I had used my oil regimen?  Now, I know that everyone doesn't like essential oils, some folks think it is 'quackery'.  But I had found a regimen that had relieved many of my Fibro symptoms as well as helping in other areas.  But in the last few weeks of rushing around, I was not using the regimen in the mornings.  During that same time, my energy got zapped.  My 'blah' feelings had increased.  It's funny how when you aren't feeling fatigued or having pain, it is easy to slip away from doing what helped you.  You feel good and 'just one morning won't make a difference'.  Then one morning becomes two, two becomes three and now it's been at least ten days since I used it.

Thinking about the oils and how they had helped me, reminded me of how important oil is in the Bible.  It is a symbol of the Holy Spirit.  Oil was used for healing, oil was used for anointing, oil was used as an offering.  Each day we need that spiritual oil to keep our hearts and minds in tune with God.  Yet when we are on the mountain or even just on the side of the mountain where the valley looks far away, we often forget the how essential the covering of the oil of the Holy Spirit is.  When we are down, like I felt this morning, we are searching desperately for help, we are crying out to the Father!  But when we feel 'comfortable', we often forget that morning talk with our Father.  We forget to pray that God will cover us with His protection and keep us in His grace.

We get content and we think 'I'm doing just fine' when in fact we are opening ourselves up to the devil's attacks.  We haven't put on our armour to stand against the devil.  Ephesians 6 tells us that we don't battle against flesh and blood but against the rulers of darkness.  That's satan folks!  He is there looking for a place he can attack.   Unless we are fully covered with the armour, we have areas exposed.

Eph. 6: 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;     16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.      17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Most of us can recite verses 14-17 and it is good if we pray each day that God cloth us in the whole armour.  But one of my favorite verses from that passage is verse 18.

Praying always with all prayer and supplication IN THE SPIRIT!  That's our oil folks!  Praying, fully concentrating on the Holiness of a Righteous and Loving God, understanding Who He is and what He has done for us!  When Samuel went to find David to proclaim him King of Israel,  he anointed him with oil.  We are children of the King, we need the oil of the Holy Spirit in every part of our daily lives!  I never want to forget my oil again!  Not my essential oils that help my body or the Holy oil of anointing that helps my spirit!  The oil is necessary for us to serve the purpose God has for us.  And do not doubt that God has a purpose for you.  He saved you - You have a purpose!  He wants you to live to your full potential but you can only live up to that potential if you are clothed in the whole armour and have the oil of the Holy Ghost in charge of your life.
