Clean Me!

Psalms 51:10 - Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Do you know where the root of our problem is?  It comes from our heart.  The Bible tells us it is desperately wicked.  But David prayed 'Create in me a clean heart, O God'.  Our heart can be clean but only with God doing the clean up.

When our heart is clean our attitude or spirit is right.  If you find yourself at odds with others, contentious and unable to get along with your Christian brothers and sisters, you may need a heart cleaning.

When Jesus comes in He makes you a new person but satan is constantly striving and pulling and trying to get us to give in to that old nature.  The bad attitude, the judgmental spirit, they come from listening to the devil whisper his lies of discontentment.  They come from hearing the world more than we hear the Savior.

I need to ask every day for God to create in me a clean heart.  It only takes a moment to track the mud back in.  It is part of our life.  What of what we deal with on a daily basis.  But God is faithful.

The clean heart is much like a clean house.  If you clean it once and leave it at the very least it will get dust and cobwebs but more likely it will get dirt and mud tracked it.  It will get things left around that make it untidy.  How much more important is it that the heart in the temple of God be cleaned that the house we live in be cleaned.

Yet which one gets the more of our attention?  Well, others see the house you may say.  Yes, they do and from your actions, your words and your deeds they see the heart.  You can't hide it when dirt begins to accumulate in and around your heart.

Lord, make us aware that we need You to daily clean us and make us acceptable in Your sight.
