Psalms 100:1 - Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
Praise Him, when all is said and done, praise Him! Do we understand what this means to God? Are you a sports fan? I am. I'm a vocal sports fan! When football or nascar are on tv, the neighbors may hear me. When I'm at an actual game, I've been known to lose my voice screaming and yelling.
Pulling for 'my' team! It's mine for a variety of reasons, I picked it, I know someone one on the team, I don't like the team they are playing. But if they are 'my' team, I'm pulling for them! I'm cheering them on! I'm groaning when they make a bad play or mistake. I'm giving them advice, not that they can hear me.
Well, I'm on the Lord's team, He is my coach, my leader! I need to lift my voice and cheer, praise! I need to encourage my 'teammates' the other Christians around me and cheer them on. When we fall or make a mistake, my groaning should be heard in the prayer room, calling out to God to help us.
God did not call for His people to be silent, He wants us to praise him - make noise! You know when a team is playing at home, they are said to have the home field advantage. What gives them that advantage? Those there cheering for them! Make a joyful noise, not only to praise the Lord to but let those on your team, fellow Christians, know that you are there, you are with them! You are cheering for them to make that next play, climb that mountain, cross that bridge.
The devil hates it when God's children make a joyful noise. While we are quiet, our brothers and sisters aren't sure we are there, they don't know if we have their back. But when we come out shouting, the devil knows the victory is ours!
