Are You Focused? Where Is Your Focus?

Most of us struggle with staying focused, there are so many distractions and so much to do.  But we need to be focused when it comes to our prayer life.  We need to know what we are praying for, we need to know what to expect when we pray.

Now I know that one thing we expect is answers.  What we don't expect is that those answers may not be the ones we are wanting.  Or those answers may happen at times we don't expect them too.  On 8/10/15 I published a blog and I mentioned a young man I had met over 10 years ago.  I told a little about that meeting and how I had witnessed to him.

I told that I still prayed for him although I had lost touch with him.  I still longed to hear that he had gotten saved.  I had no way to contact him but I was praying.

Can you imagine my surprise last week when I'm scrolling down my Facebook page and who pops up as a suggested friend, you guessed it - my friend I was praying for.  We have no mutual friends or connections.  Yet there he was.  I had looked for him on Facebook before but he wasn't there or at least I never found him.

But seeing him pop up renewed my desire to pray without ceasing for his salvation.  It also reminded me that God answers our prayers sometimes in strange ways.  I've sent that friend request.  I'd love the chance to witness to him again.  But him popping up on Facebook is not how I thought my prayer, to know how he is and if he has gotten saved, would end.  I really never thought I'd have a way to contact him.  I never thought God might give me that opportunity.  I knew He could but I didn't see it play out that way.

So when we pray, we have to accept that God's plan isn't always the way we planned.  We need to 'roll with the punches' as they say.  Know that God knows best and be ready to move with His plan.

Something else to expect, if you get serious with prayer, is the devil to fight.  Sometimes when you 'stand in the gap' God allows you to feel the battle the other person is going through.  You need to be prepared to stand on God's word with your armor on and ready.

And you can expect backlash, many times when you pray.  Others will try to cast doubts on your prayers, your desires, your motives and your character.  That is because satan uses people to carry out his attacks.

Yet as these things happen, God can and does give you assurance of His love and His peace.  As I've walked this road the last few months, I've seen things happen that I never dreamed would happen, as the devil took little things and made mountains out of them to push wedges into places.  I've see many roadblocks.

I have also seen my granddaughter that I've prayed for saved, I've seen folks healed and I've seen people becoming excited about prayer.

I don't know what tomorrow will bring or if it will show me another answer but I trust Him, He is faithful!
