When things are rough and the devil is fighting, the Lord will send a whisper to say 'I'm still here and I've got this'. But we have to remain faithful. Sometimes we are so frantic in what we are doing we miss that whisper. Some times the chaos is so bad that we wouldn't hear it unless we are listening close. That is not because God doesn't want us to hear, it is because He wants us to calm down, to take it in stride, not allow the father of lies to take our confidence and tear us apart.
Yesterday I got to talk with a young woman who is excited about what God is doing in her life and what she believes God wants her to do. She was my whisper, she was my encouragement. She has been burdened to pray, to pray with power that Jesus can give. She has been burdened for families, for churches.
Listening to her talk echoed many things I've written over the last few months, but she has never read my blog. We talked about claiming God's promises that He gave us in His word. We talked about the reason we are losing so many to the world is because prayer warriors are dying and no one is replacing them. We talked about how the devil fought when God laid this on our hearts.
It was so great to talk with someone to 'gets it', someone who shares the burden. Last night, older lady in the church talked with us about what it means to intercede in prayer for others and how God often has you feel the burden they are under when you do. It was scary as far as responsibility but it was so good to talk with such a great prayer warrior, to hear from her lips how God often burdens or even wakes her up to pray for others.
We still have some prayer warriors out there but ladies and gentlemen most of them are getting on in age. Who is going to stand in that gap? Will it be you, me, both of us? Prayer is the fuel that moves the hand of God. God word tells us over and over to pray, to pray expecting, to pray believing, to pray for ourselves and others.
Are we following God's word and doing this? Or do we say our 'short prayer' to bless the food, to go to bed and that's all. You can never move for God without prayer. And others may not be able to move because you aren't praying for them.
We need to pray for power for our ministries, we need to pray for protection - of our families, our church, our ministers, our missionaries and other Christians. Satan wants to take out anyone working for Jesus and prayer is our protection. We need to pray for provision - that God will supply the needs of our families, churches, ministers, missionaries. We need to pray for progress - that we will grow in Christ, that our churches will reach the lost, that our ministers will have strength, wisdom, discernment, & grace, for our missionaries to reach souls for Jesus!
There is always a lot to pray about, we need to pray with fervency and focus. That's what a prayer list or prayer cards are good, they keep you focused, you don't have to rely on memory. God may be calling you to pray specifically for a ministry on a daily basis. Fulfilling that assignment can reap benefits you may never see.
Today I'm encouraged because someone else is seeing and understanding the need of prayer, the need of power in prayer. God is raising them up one by one. I hope you will join us. We need an army as this is a battle. We are at war, we need to be prayed up and ready to stand on our knees before the Father and plead the blood of Jesus.
