Where Is Your Treasure?

Luke 12:34 - For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Do you long for heaven?  Do you desire to spend time in God's work?  Do you look forward to time in prayer?

Unless you can answer 'yes' to those and mean it, it may be time for a check of where your treasure is?  The Bible tells us both in Matthew and Luke that your heart is where your treasure is.  So if your heart is in tune with God, your answer should be 'yes'.

Now all of us have days that we just get so busy that we get sidetracked.  Guess who causes that?  Well, actually there could be a number of causes but the base cause is usually the devil keeping too busy to have the time you need to strengthen your heart and mind with the Lord.

Do you have a time and place that you pray every day?  Or do you just pray when you get around to it, usually at the end of the day when you have trouble keeping your eyes open?  There's nothing wrong with praying at the end of the day, in fact it's a great way to know that your heart is at peace when you get in bed.  But if it is just a 'oh, I have to pray now', rather than a 'God I've coming to You to praise You, thank You and to bring my desires to you', it may not be achieving what you are hoping and praying for.

God wants to be Lord, now He knows that there are many things to distract us and He knows how often we just don't say 'no' when we should.  He also knows the devil will use 'good things' to take away our time from really talking to God.  It may be a church ministry or family or a charity.  Those are all good things and we should take time to do those but first and foremost we need to worship God.  We need to study His Word.

There is so much for us in His Word.  It can give us wisdom, peace, joy, calm, the list goes on and on.  But that only happens if we get in it and study it.  It only when we ask Him to open our eyes and let us see what He has for us when we read.  It only happens when we lay our hurts, our wants, our desires and our needs out before Him asking that His will be done.

Do you keep a prayer list?  Do you  update it with answered prayers and praises?  I haven't always been as faithful with that as I should, but I'm learning that it can be a great encouragement to me.  Seeing the answers to prayer, seeing where God has moved can motivate me when I'm down.

As I've said before, this blog isn't a great 'how to' from someone who 'has it all together'.  It is a learning experience that is recorded so others can learn as well.  It is the lessons I've been taught.  The ups and downs I've gone through that hopefully will help you as you go through yours.

We need on a regular basis to make sure our treasures are in the right place so our heart can be focused on Jesus!
